BREAKING OUT THE SEWING MACHINE

I am going to start sewing again!!! I am planning on setting up a website soon with samples of what I'll be sewing. I want to make a few samples of the products first before I even try to describe them.

In the mean time, I am going to start making t-shirt quilts. If you or anyone you know would like one, let me know. I'm planning on selling them for $120...at least until I get things going. You provide the t-shirts and I'll provide the
sashing strips between the shirts, outside borders, stabilizer (I will tack the quilts with yarn), internal batting, and backing all in the fabric colors of your choice. I can also make a mini quilt (the size of a baby blanket or larger) with baby t-shirts, onesies, or pieces of material from your favorite outfit if you'd like. The price on these will vary with size. Sewing is a hobby of mine and I want to start doing it again. I love t-shirt quilts because they are so full of memories. The one posted is one that I made Chad for Valentine's day one year. I used shirts from places we had been, such as concerts and sporting events. I even included the softball shirt I was wearing when we met. (The red one with a #9.) T-shirt quilts are custom made with your own t -shirts. These quilts make great graduation gifts. They are also make a great keepsake of annual events...bike races, marathons, tournaments, high school events, college events, etc. If you're interested or have questions, email me at isaacs898@yahoo.com

April 2009

So I've been a little too preoccupied with my iphone and have started to neglect my blog I guess. That and I really don't feel like I have anything exciting to write about, so I haven't really kept up. Um here are my random thoughts at the moment...

1. I'm still looking for something to do this summer. I've pretty much settled on working at a store in Joplin. I think that would be fun and it will give me a break from teaching. I would also really love to do something from home that I could continue to do throughout the school year...like stuff envelopes or something, I don't know. I just haven't found anything like that out there. If you know of anything, let me know.

2. Hopefully Chad will get his stitches out tomorrow and we can get back to working out soon.

3. 3 weeks and 4 days left with students! Summer can't get here soon enough. It's like this everywhere, not just in Miami, but at the end of school all the teachers are stressing out about testing and all the students are already checked out...they're restless and ready to quit. It drives me nuts! I'm trying not to stress.

4. We're really hoping Chad's motorcycle sells soon. We thought we had it sold a while back, but the guy kinda flaked out, so we still have it.

5. I'm a big Dave Ramsey fan, if you don't know already. I've been downloading his free podcasts to my iphone and listening to them when I drive. I sorta feel like my dad. He always listens to talk radio in his truck. It used to drive me nuts, but I really enjoy it now. Anyway, I recommend them. It kinda keeps me motivated and focused on what we're doing.

6. My friend Robin told me about some great skincare products. The brand is Mario Badescu. I went to the website and took the skin survey and they sent me several samples of their products. I then went to Nordstrom's in Dallas and picked up a few more samples. They don't sell the stuff anywhere around here, but they do have it at The Make Up Bar on the north side of OKC or you can order it online. Anyway, I ended up buying some stuff there the last time I came to OKC and I love it! It's very reasonably priced. I bought two different face washes and they were somewhere around $12 each. You should really try some....at least get some free samples from the website.

7. I'll be in OKC on Friday, May 15th for the Reaching Souls Banquet. Hopefully I'll get to see some of you that are in OKC while I'm there. Reaching Souls is the ministry that my brother works for now. You should check out their website. They have an incredible ministry!

8. A year ago from last Sunday Chad proposed to me! I love being married to him! We are so blessed! I'm so glad we had a short engagement too. I can't imagine being engaged a whole year. I don't know how some of you do it!

9. Chad and I went to Fayetteville Friday night. We didn't get to make it in time for his sister's graduation ceremony, but we did get to hang out and have dinner with everyone. We stayed in Fayetteville and spent the day Saturday just driving around and looking at the pretty scenery, dreaming of where we might be some day...so fun!

10. I feel like I need to have a list of 10 things to make this blog complete. Have a great week!

Spring Break

Spring Break is finally here. Last year I went to Paris and London for Spring Break. My plans aren't quite as extravagant this year, but I'm still very excited. I'm headed to Okc Wednesday to finally get to meet Jackson! I will be celebrating my brother's birthday as well as my sister-in-law's birthday Wednesday night with my family. Thursday I'm headed to Dallas with my mom to visit family and go shopping! Yea!

Chad and I are going to a St. Patrick's Day potluck day dinner with our Sunday School class Tuesday night. I'm supposed to bring something Irish. Hmmm. I have no idea here. Any suggestions?

I finished reading Twilight and I'm now reading New Moon. They are very good books if you're looking for something to read.

I was reminded this weekend that I really need to find a job for the summer. I was inside all day Saturday and completely bored out of my mind. Poor Chad. Sometimes I turn into a little whiny kid. I'm just not sure what to do with myself when I have free time. I feel like I need to be going somewhere or doing something.

The weather has been warmer lately, so I decided to switch my clothes. You know, unpack my summer clothes and pack up my winter sweaters. This means another trip to the resale shop. I love taking my clothes there when I'm finished wearing them. I don't like to keep things I don't use and this way I'll have a little extra shopping money. Cindy's Resale in Norman is my favorite place to take things. It's right by the mall.

I'm trying to motivate myself to run. This should be a little easier now that it's sunny, warmer, and stays light outside later. I've added a thing on my page that is supposed to track my running if I did it right, but I'm not sure I set it up right. We'll see. Anyway, join in if you want. I added the app to my phone and it gives you workouts to do...pretty neat. You should try it.

This weeks news...

LifeChurch.tv -
Dave Ramsey will be leading the service at LifeChurch for the next two weeks. (Sunday, March 15th and Sunday, March 22nd.) You can watch the service live online or if you want, you can download the podcast later in the week. If you don't subscribe to the podcasts, I recommend it. They are really good. I usually listen/watch them while I workout. Anyway, I like Dave Ramsey. I think he's a godly man and wise when it comes to financial stuff. There's a link on the right side of my page if you're interested.

Twilight -
Thanks for all of your book suggestions. My list has grown. I'm trying to read a book each month, which for me is a lot. I used to hate reading, but I've grown to really enjoy it. Before, I was doing good if I read one book a year, so this was a pretty big jump for me. I went to the bookstore last Thursday to get Twilight. I've heard so much about it and so many of my students have read it. I figured if they can make it through a book that thick, so can I. It's almost 500 pages. I'm almost finished...in under a week. It's one of those books that's hard to put down. It's a good story. I recommend it if you're looking for something to read. I think there are 4 books in the series and I plan on reading all of them.

4 more days till Spring Break!!!!

Summer job -
Usually I find a fun place to work for the summer. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do here in Miami. I'd like to do something. I don't want to just sit around all summer, but there aren't many places to work around here. I guess I could drive to Joplin and work at the mall or something. I don't know...any ideas?

There's not a lot going on right now. I hope you all have a great week!

I just got an email from RedBox for free movie rentals on Wednesday's in March. According to the email they will post a free movie rental code on their blog every Wednesday. The code is good for everyone to use. If you'd like to use it, I've placed a link under the links section of my blog.

A New Favorite

I don't know if you are experiencing what I've been experiencing all week...stuffy head, unable to breathe, runny nose, and a very sore throat. If you are, I've found something you should try. After blowing my nose all week on school grade toilet paper, I broke down and bought a box of tissues yesterday. These weren't just any tissues though. These were Puff's tissues with Vick's. It's like a shot of Mentholatum up your nose! I love them. It opens my nostrils for a few minutes of sweet relief. You should try them!
